ARTIST STATEMENT

I am Cyrus and I proclaim that I don’t know what I’m doing other than responding to the hell, heartbreak and harmony that can be the ingredients of a human being flavoured cake. My responses can be birthed in the shape of words that become monologues that I perform, or through mark making, photography and performance to camera in collaboration with other artists. Research into the human condition, discomfort, vulnerability, the abject and cognitive dissonance inform much of my practice. My recent live performance in Govan Project Space has changed my life and allowed me to see what my own capabilities truly are and the gift I possess that allows me, through the expression of authentic vulnerability, to connect to other humans. This is the rock I wish to keep mining.
