At Home
An investigation and reflection of domestic space and the walls which encase and enclose our private lives. Mackay has created a study of form and texture through her vitreous enamel work that reflects the various layers that make up our most familiar of canvases – our own home.
Intrigued by the visual evidence of lived lives in a building that is both private and shared; the scraped floors, chipped paint, the ripped wallpaper of the layers of people that have called the same space home. In studying the home, this research brought into light the broken and damaged parts found within the lived space. Developing works that mirror the human interaction within these domestic spaces by playing with experimental enamelling techniques and a creative use of form.
