Liv Fox (She/Her)
My practice indulges in the formal, making work that considers colour and material in a spatial and temporal way.
X is a motif that gets stretched, morphed, amplified, and quietened. X is ultimately a tool for painterly play.
In this body of work, I have explored the many forms of X and hence the many forms of painting, drawing that boundary beyond the viewer.

‘Big X 2’ considers the viewer’s experience of architecture to create an experience of surface. This piece is a love letter to the spatiality of painting, the idea that a painting is an object that consists of several images. This painting not only shifts with space but also with time, as the sky brightens beyond the windows, more brushmarks appear and colours become enhanced.
