SwimSafe is a consumer-friendly water quality test kit designed to test any waterbody for untreated sewage pollution. The kit includes a compact and easy-to-use water sampler and an electronic test device that uses the principle of fluorometry to rapidly determine pollution levels.

The test provides a qualitative safety recommendation based on the presence of optical brightening agents (a uniquely anthropogenic proxy for untreated wastewater) as well as a relative fluorescence value which can be shared to the public map to help police pollution incidents.
